Anakin Skywalker, also known as the Sith Lord Darth Vader, is a posthumus character in Star Wars: Legacies of the Galaxy. Born a slave on the planet of Tatooine, Skywalker was discovered by the Jedi Order in the year 32 BBY and was trained in the ways of the Force at the Jedi Temple on Coruscant. In 22 BBY, Skywalker became a Jedi General in the Clone Wars between the Galactic Republic and Confederacy of Independent Systems. In spite of the Jedi's rule at the time of no attachment, Skywalker fell in love with and later married Padme Amidala, a former Queen of Naboo and Galactic Republic senator during the war. During and after the war, Skywalker led countless Clone Troopers, most famously the 501st Legion. Around the end of the war in 19 BBY, Skywalker began reporting he was having visions of Amidala dying in chidbirth, and turned to the only person he could trust: Chancellor Palpatine.
Palpatine, secretly a Sith Lord called Darth Sidious, manipulated Anakin into trying to learn the teachings of the Sith to save his wife. After convincing him that the Jedi were traitors to the Republic, Skywalker turned to the dark side of the Force and he became Darth Vader. As Vader, Skywalker attacked the Jedi Temple and later killed the leadership of the CIS on Mustafar. After a duel shortly after with his former teacher and friend, Obi-Wan Kenobi, Vader was left to burn near a lavabank without most of his limbs. Rescued by Sidious, Vader was refitted with cybernetics and a life support system in a black suit of armor and became the new Emperor's top enforcer, having lost his wife and presumed his children as well.
In 0 BBY, during the Galactic Civil War, Darth Vader discovered that, contrary to what Palpatine told him, his children did not die after his fall, when he encountered Luke Skywalker during the Battle of Yavin and later learned his name from investigation. While Vader saught to turn his son to his side and join the Sith, Luke refused and continued to train as a Jedi. Taking his son to the Emperor, Vader was defeated in battle and the younger Skywalker refused Sidious' order to kill his father and join him. After Sidious attacked Luke, Vader embraced his true personality and killed Darth Sidious, at the cost of his life. As the Jedi assumed, Anakin Skywalker was later identified as the Chosen One for destroying Sidious.
